Join Forward Motion for an unforgettable anniversary concert celebrating 10 years of innovative music making in Indianapolis! Since 2016, the group has advocated for the creation of new works for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, and percussion by presenting innovative performances, commissioning, premiering, and recording newly composed music, and partnering with local organizations to build community through adventurous musical expression.
To celebrate the past 10 years of music making, they've built a program of “greatest hits”:
Full Program:
Music in Similar Motion by Philip Glass
The Ocean Inside by Frances White
Blurred by Bill Ryan
Intermission
Aether by Jordan Nobles
not yet, but already by Jennifer Page
Reflect and Release by Rob Funkhouser
The first half of the program will include Music in Similar Motion, Philip Glass’ famous minimalist work, Frances White’s The Ocean Inside, and Bill Ryan’s slow jam Blurred. These three works were all performed at their first concert in November 2016, and it is exciting and nostalgic to perform these again.
On the program’s second half, Aether by Jordan Nobles and the premier of Jennifer Page’s graphic score not yet, but already represent Forward Motion’s extensive work on interpretation of open and graphic scores. The program will conclude with Rob Funkhouser’s Reflect and Release, one of our first larger commissions for the full ensemble.
